My entrepreneurial dream started in my 20's when I was working as a chef at a 5 star hotel, but really wanted to open my own restaurant.

I was so scared about the legal and "back end" side of managing a business that I allowed it to hold me back from chasing my dream of opening my restaurant all those years ago.

No matter how many hours I spent on Google, influencers I stalked on Instagram, or free courses I took, I still didn't have the 30,000 foot view about all of the important and scary legal things that I knew I needed to know about in order to feel safe and secure in putting my career on the line to start my own business.

So, I decided to go to law school and learn it all myself. I took every business course I could enrol in and soaked it up like a sponge. Once I gained all that knowledge about the legal landscape of doing business and became a full time practicing lawyer, I spent some time working for other law firms, learning the ropes.

Within 4 years of practicing law I couldn't deny the entrepreneurial calling in my heart and in the course of a week, I left my 9-5 and I went out and launched my own law firm. I didn't have a plan at all, but was incredibly grateful for the handful of clients who came with me.

In my own journey into entrepreneurship, I could see that there was no one else out there breaking down the barriers to understanding the complex legal stuff, that even I, a business lawyer, had initial trouble sorting out when it came to practical application in the life cycle of a business.

I've invested in coaches, courses and mentors to help me understand all of the other sides of building a business (like marketing, sales, leadership, etc.) and implemented all of the strategies I learned to build a solid foundation for my empire to grow on.

I created my own contract templates to use with my clients and in various business dealings to protect myself. I knew how important it was to use contracts to protect myself and wanted to create something other business owners could easily use too. So, I created the contract template library, formerly known as the Legally Lit Library.

I saw no one was teaching the legal stuff, all the things I wish I knew when I was a chef that would have helped me feel confident enough to actually start my dream restaurant, so I created Legally Lit: A Legal Education & Empowerment Course.
